Last year in Scotland, single use food containers made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) were banned. People even got fines up to £5000 for using them after the ban came into force. A similar ban will be introduced in England and Wales in Oct 2023.
Expanded and extruded polystyrene single use food containers and lots of other things like cotton buds and plastic cutlery will be banned. Why - because they can’t be recycled which means they harm the environment when they are not disposed of correctly.
kp Infinity® Hotpacs® and the kp Infinity® Top Seal range are both made from extruded polypropylene (EPP)* and are fully recyclable. So even though they are single use food containers, they are not going to be banned.
*Also known as expanded polypropylene
From 1 October 2023, no one should supply EPS trays in Scotland, England or Wales because of the ban.
We deal with all the key distributors in the UK so there is sure to be a supplier for kp Infinity® in your local area. If not, let us know and we will change that.
The trays and Hotpacs® are made in the UK at our manufacturing site in St Helens, Merseyside.
